Near Kihei is this piece of WWII history has been transformed into a race track.  A 1/4 mile strip in the sugar cane fields was once a training station for pilots who would be flying throughout the Pacific.  The bunkers and tower are the only things that remain of this historic structures.

For $10 you can wander around the area, even through the pits.  It’s fully lit and takes place in the evenings.  It’s a big local event but everyone is invited.  Even non-motor heads will have a good time.
